Stephen Castree, is a Social Entreprenuer having begun his career focusing in financial services. Stephen is a founder and non-executive President of The Development Initiative, a global Mine Action company operating throughout the Middle East and Africa; he holds a number of directorships in businesses including operating companies, investment companies and investment funds. He is also a founder and director of Climate Wise, a global organization focused assisting individuals, companies and communities reduce their impact on the environment.
Graduating from the University of Birmingham with a Combined Honours degree in French and Sport and Recreation Management, Stephen also holds an MBA from the University of Birmingham Business School; a DEUG from the University of Lyon; and an Honours degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the Open University.
With many interests, Stephen coached swimming for several years and was fortunate to represent Bermuda as a coach at both the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and at the Olympic Games in London in 2012. He started a ‘fun’ social media channel, Ukulele the World where he plays Ukulele around the world, and he is a thinker. His first book, Three Adult Lives offers a view on how life can be constructed and how we can free ourselves to change the way we live. His second book, Buddhinism: A Way of Being, was published in 2026 and outlines some ideas of the ‘how’.
Stephen is a father of four children and a husband to Danielle. He enjoys travelling and living in different countries and plans to continue to live, and love, every day
