John Hazell

I have always had a very creative mind, and would love to be able to draw, but I could never master the pencil other than for technical drawings. I first started writing poetry when I was 15. I was inspired by the music that I listened to, rock and roll and heavy metal, and was fascinated by the lyrical content and structure of the songs. I really wanted to write my own songs, but since I wasn't very musical myself at the time I wasn't at all musical I turned to poetry instead.

Since then I have taught myself how to play the guitar, and realized a dream of writing and creating my own songs, and playing with my band of brothers. I later got into recording and making my own songs, and while I'm not a great singer, I enjoy the whole process of writing and creating a song from an idea in my head.

The content of my poetry is usually seeded from a personal experience, and then embellished to create a work of mostly fiction. Some ideas come from my long battle with anxiety and depression, others from the good times, and the rest just sheer fantasy.
