Caitriona Coyle was born and raised in a small village in Donegal in the north of Ireland. She was sent off the boarding school (reluctantly) at 13 and spent 5 years there, which proved to be a fertile ground for the imagination! Dublin city was where she went to college and her experiences there in the late 70's/ early 80's was what inspired her to write College Girls. Caitriona likes to write what she knows, which eventually led her to Gracie, a story inspired by dramatic events in the early years of her parents' marriage. " It was always there,' she says, " finally bursting forth, longing to be heard." Caitriona taught English in a Dublin secondary school for years and took early retirement in 2012 which gave her the freedom to concentrate on her own writing.
She is married with 2 daughters and these days she spends most of her time in her little cottage in Donegal, walking the stunning beaches and working on her 3rd novel. Watch this space.
