Who would think a woman training to be an academic philosopher by earning a PhD would be writing books on Aikido? In fact, with my late husband - Ronald G Rubin (who was also an academic philosopher) - we became an Aikido powerhouse: founding and publishing Aikido Today Magazine for 20 years (100 issues), many books, DVDs, creating Expo events with Aikido people and running a dojo - Musubi Dojo - for 35 years. I have spent this time helping Aikido grow mostly by promoting other teachers and authors. But now I offer a new book of my own - The Hidden Power of Aikido - which was fun for me to write as it brought my philosophic background together with my Aikido life! I am also a Zen brush artist exhibiting in a local gallery in Claremont, California where I live and teach Aikido through the Claremont City program.
