“NICKEL CITY BURNING,” a sequel to "Denial of Conflict", sees Mike Reed transition from a military role to a private investigator. In 1983 Buffalo N.Y. was a city in trouble.

Linda and Gary opened a private investigation firm to complement their insurance adjusting company. The author investigated insurance fraud, arson and other types of criminal cases.

The author released “DENIAL OF CONFLICT- LAND OF THE MORNING CALM” on Amazon in 2023. An untold story of what was occurring in Korea in 1967-68. It is a fictional account based on actual events. The book’s pages hold a blend of action, espionage, and romance.

Both novels echo the author’s past as an Army officer and private investigator. As a lieutenant, he led combat patrols in the DMZ and later served as the battalion intelligence officer. While in Korea, he received decorations for valor and meritorious service. He finished his service at the Center for Special Warfare as an intelligence analyst at Fort Bragg.

The author lives just south of Buffalo with his wife, Linda, in the infamous snow belt, enjoying retirement, the outdoors and the Buffalo Bills
