Michael grew up in a very faithfully religious home where both his parents taught religious education. This laid a strong foundation for his coming to the Lord Jesus in the early 70s during the Jesus People Movement. His strong love for Jesus grew like a fire within him. He couldn’t contain it. Many called him a Jesus Freak. He started sharing the Lord with all he met or lived with in the dorms at Arizona State University. While there, he joined Dr. Michael Schiffman, who started a ministry to Jewish people called, “The Young Lions of Judah,” which later merged with the Chosen People Ministry.
After receiving his BS degree from Arizona State University, Michael remained on campus becoming the campus director for Chosen People Ministries. While on campus, he started a Christian Awareness Week, organized a prayer group uniting the various Christian campus ministries, and formed a Christian Music band named, Sardis. He played acoustic and electric rhythm guitar, and, Kathy, his new wife, played flute in the band.
In 1980, Michael and Kathy moved for Michael to attend Denver Seminary, where he received a Master of Divinity with honors. He stayed in the Denver area and worked at a local church as an associate pastor. He taught Bible Studies, coached basketball & softball, wrote songs & poetry, and worked in Youth & Young Marrieds Ministries.
Michael and Kathy moved to Grand Junction, Colorado to be the pastor of a rural Evangelical Free church. Since 2000, he has faithfully served as the pastor of a nondenominational Bible church. He has been actively involved in the community through the Ministerial Alliance, ShareFest, coaching soccer and substitute teaching.
Over the years Michael has written several pamphlets on prayer, including The Shepherd’s Pathway to Wholeness , The Risen Warriors Way , and CPR [Critical Prayer Resuscitation]: Devoted to Scriptural Praying. He has taught theology and philosophy at Colorado Christian University. He has presented Messianic Passovers and Solemn Assemblies for churches and small groups for over 35 years. Michael and Kathy enjoy a close relationship with their three adult daughters and their six growing grandchildren. He still enjoys coaching soccer, gardening, playing guitar, and writing songs & poetry.
