Amara Karuna

Amara Karuna started her path as a young adult seeking personal healing, and studied massage, acupuncture, psychic healing, meditation and many other modalities.

She taught Re-evaluation Co-counseling, a world wide method of peer counseling, for over five years, and has been studying and practicing it since 1983.  In 1989 she developed her own approach to peer counseling, originally called Wholistic Peer Support, integrating many ideas from RC with spiritual meditation practices, psychic healing and body centered techniques. It was later renamed Holistic Peer Counseling in agreement with others who continued teaching it.

Amara developed Heartbeat Nurturing Therapy, a method of healing the inner infant-self using cradling and hypnotic induction to address emotional issues stemming from lack of breast feeding & loving closeness as an infant. She is the author of Heartbeat Nurturing Therapy–Healing Our Hearts Together. This therapy emerged from a combination of peer counseling, hypnotic reprogramming and tantric healing practices. This guide covers everything needed to start to give and receive this intimate therapy, including the basics of trading peer counseling, inner child work and much more.

Amara has also written The Torus of Life Healing Meditation which gives information about the power of the torus shape in nature, and instructions on qi gong movements using this form for healing. She also has a book of her mystical poetry, Letting the Sun Out, and a children’s book, We Like Questions.

Amara is a graphic artist and all of the graphics in her books are her original creations. She has been an artist and scrimshander since 1980 and has illustrated several books and magazines. She sold reproductions of her art as batiked banners and prayer flags for many years under the business Karuna Arts, and is still selling a few of them.

She created, edited and published Heartsong Review, a resource guide for New Age spiritual music, for nine years. She led song circles for many years and has written many circle songs.

She is also a singer/songwriter, although she does not perform to live audiences, you can hear her inspirational mystical music on Soundcloud or buy them as CDs on Amazon. Amara is a photographer and videographer and has numerous videos on her YouTube channel, including many music videos illustrating her original songs.
