Phil Walter

Phil Walter is a secondary school teacher, father of three, and author with a passion for helping parents raise confident, kind and resilient children.

After many years of working with young people, Phil has seen first-hand how the values, confidence and resilience developed in childhood shape the adults they become. His experience in education, combined with his own journey as a parent, has inspired a practical and encouraging approach to family life.

In The Power of No, Phil explores how loving boundaries, calm guidance and strong values can help children feel secure, develop resilience and grow into confident adults. His parenting philosophy is built around three simple principles: Bridge—building connection before correction; Lighthouse—remaining calm through life's storms; and Compass—helping children develop the character and values that guide them for life.

Phil writes to encourage, not to judge, recognising that every family is different and that parenting is a journey of learning, patience and love.

When he's not teaching or writing, Phil enjoys spending time with his family and continuing to explore practical ways to support children and parents alike.
