Hrannar Baldursson

Hrannar Baldursson helps people rediscover philosophy as a practical companion for everyday life.

An Icelandic writer and educator, he believes philosophy is not meant to sit unread on library shelves or disappear behind academic jargon. It is something to practice, one thoughtful question at a time.

For more than four years, Hrannar has maintained a daily philosophical practice. Each day, he reads from philosophy, turns one idea into an open-ended question, and writes an honest reflection. Whether completed just after waking or before going to sleep, he has continued the practice every day. It has grown into thousands of pages of writing and inspired his first book of philosophical reflection, Seasons of the Mind.

Hrannar works in university teaching development and teaches education sciences at the University of Iceland. Having lived, studied, and worked in Iceland, the United States, Mexico, and Norway, he writes about learning, Stoicism, virtue, happiness, and the questions that shape a meaningful life.

Alongside his original books, he is creating modern, accessible editions of classic philosophical works, helping today’s readers discover timeless wisdom in clear, contemporary language.
