David Ramati

D. Ramati served in the Marine Corps for two combat tours in Vietnam, where he received the Presidential Unit Citation. After an honorable discharge, he returned to complete his studies at the University of Wisconsin Madison after a long period of soul-searching. Ramati converted to Orthodox Judaism and immigrated to Israel. Ramati served for another 25 years in the Israel Defense Force, rising to the rank of infantry captain. Among his last assignments for the IDF was gathering intelligence information for a special unit of Military Intelligence. He became proficient in Hebrew and conversant in Arabic. Author David Ramati, a Jewish Veteran of the Vietnam War, served in the Vietnam War in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was born in Chicago and raised in Wisconsin. After serving in Vietnam, he moved to Israel, where he served for another 25 years as a combat infantry officer in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). David is married, and has a son, also an American Citizen, who carries on the proud tradition of serving in the Israeli Defense Force and also has five beautiful daughters, and twenty-six grandchildren with a great grandchild and more on the way. David currently lives in the combat zone called Kiryat Arba Hebron and saw his time in the IDF as a continuation of his time in Vietnam in the fight for freedom as a proxy war against the enemies of America and the free world! His current book, Destiny of Memories: Book I Fire and Rain Book II Phoenix Rising is the second book of a trilogy which deals with veterans returning from war and is as relevant today as it was then. David is continuing his education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem
