George Barnett

George is a self-directed student and educator of botany, ecology, natural history, spirituality, and philosophy. He’s an avid reader, writer, conservationist, trailrunner, and backpacker. From 2020-2025, he owned and operated the immersive environmental education program called The Hungry Forager. In the spring of 2024, his first book FORAGING KENTUCKY was published.

Currently, George works in land management and offers lectures on plant ecology, land stewardship, nature philosophy, and foraging wild foods. Additionally, he’s working on a second book and is actively publishing on his Substack page titled "George's Zibaldone Journal". George is originally from Louisville, Kentucky and continues to live there with his wife and their three sons.
