James E Moran

James E Moran is a Principal Member of the Technical Staff at Draper Laboratory in Cambridge, MA. He works on communications and computation algorithms for embedded systems using FPGAs, ASICs, and embedded processors. He is also a Senior Adjunct Professor at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, where he teaches classes including FPGA Logic Design Techniques, Verification of Digital Systems, and Software Engineering. Jim is an Amateur Radio operator (NE1JM) holding an extra class license and is a volunteer examiner for The American Radio Relay League. Jim graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He also graduated from Harvard University with a Master of Liberal Arts degree in Biotechnology. Jim is a member of Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, and a Senior Member of the IEEE. He is a stained glass artist, an avid wood-turner, and a guitar player in his spare time.
