Doc Ngu

Doc Ngu writes about novel solutions to some of the world's most intractable conflicts. His first book introduces the PEIS Plan, a three-state, triple-win framework for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His second presents the CURD Plan, a comprehensive 18-point, double-victory proposal to end the Russo-Ukrainian War. He is now working on the RU-MAD strategy, aimed at countering the rogue nuclear leverage of states such as North Korea and Iran. Across these works, he envisions hopeful pathways toward a neighborly future for long-antagonistic parties.

Doc Ngu grew up in South Vietnam during the Vietnam War and received a post-colonial French education steeped in romanticism. After the fall of South Vietnam in 1975, he experienced the communist didactic model before escaping as a Boat People refugee in 1980. Resettled in the United States, he embraced the analytical rigor of the American college system and later earned a PhD in Computer Science — hence the "Doc" in his name. This unique blend of lived experience and intellectual traditions shapes his thinking and writing.

"Ngu" is an abbreviation of his Vietnamese surname, "Nguyễn" — and, in Vietnamese, it also means "idiot." Are his outside-the-box ideas groundbreaking or idiotic? His Frog-in-the-Well Solution books invite readers to decide. A frog in a well knows nothing beyond its small world but croaks all night long for everyone's attention.
