Liesl Messerschmidt

Liesl Messerschmidt grew up in Kathmandu, Nepal, where she graduated from Lincoln School. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree in international studies from The University of Oregon, and master's degree in global public health policy from The George Washington University. Degrees in hand, she returned to live and work (and write!) in Nepal for another decade, followed by two years in Thailand, before returning to North America and launching her own global public health and communications consulting businesses: Health and Development Consulting International, and Edit Design Innovate.

In addition to professional reports and technical articles and presentations, Liesl has published two books (one co-authored) on the cultural history of Manang in the Nepal Himalayas. Current and ongoing writing projects include a manuscript of her struggles with infertility and quest to become a mother while living abroad; a memoir of the first Tibetan refugee laborer in the USA; a co-authored catalog of the artwork and artistry of the late Lain Singh Bangdel; and a satirical memoir grounded in the adventures she and her brother 'survived' during their atypical childhood in the (then) kingdom of Nepal.
