Kenneth Lampl

Kenneth Lampl is an internationally acclaimed composer of over 100 film scores, whose music covers Hollywood blockbusters, independent films, and award-winning Australian productions. A Juilliard graduate and student of John Williams, Lampl gained early recognition by winning the Prix Ravel in Fontainebleau, France, and has since received the Joseph H. Bearns Prize (Columbia University), nine ASCAP Concert Music Awards, and fellowships from the Mancini, Gershwin, and Rodgers foundations.

His film credits include Pokémon: The First Movie, Pokémon: Mewtwo Returns, Frontera (Ed Harris, Eva Longoria), and 35 & Ticking (Kevin Hart). In Australia, his scores for The Furies (2019), 2067 (2020, Sony/Milan Records, Netflix/Amazon Prime’s most-streamed Australian film of the year), and Sissy (2022, SXSW, three AACTA nominations) have received wide recognition. 2067 was named one of the “Best Scores of 2021” by the Film Music Institute (LA), while Sissy was named “Best Horror Score of 2022” by Movie Music International.

Beyond film, Lampl has arranged for Foreigner’s 21st Century Symphony Orchestra and Chorus (#1 on the Billboard Classical Charts), created an orchestral remix for Radiohead, and composed orchestral works for Evanescence’s Synthesis tour with the Sydney, Melbourne, and Queensland Symphony Orchestras.

He is a Professor of Music at the Australian National University and the author of Film Music: The Basics (Routledge, 2017) and the upcoming Film Music: Composition and Creative Practice.
