Brian K. Butler is an internationally respected educational leader, consultant, and former principal with more than thirty-five years of experience helping schools in the United States, Australia, and Canada build collaborative cultures where every learner can thrive. As President of The Answer’s In The Room Educational Consulting, he coaches school leaders and teams to design systems that elevate student achievement and unlock each child’s unique strengths, passions, and talents.
A former professional basketball player in England and a Division I athlete at The George Washington University, Brian brings discipline, teamwork, and a deep belief in human potential to every space he leads. His professional work and personal story have been featured in the books Leaders of Learning and SOUL. He has authored, coauthored, or contributed to four books on education and leadership, including Limitless Future, Every Student Deserves a Gifted Education (a Foreword INDIES Award finalist), What About Us?, and It’s About Time.
Akebulan: The Africa I Was Never Taught marks a meaningful departure from Brian’s previous work in education. This book enters the realms of African history, educational nonfiction, and cultural restoration, blending personal genealogy with a reflective exploration of histories, civilizations, and contributions that colonization and the 1884–1885 Berlin Conference interrupted, attempted to erase, or concealed. It is a return to personal and continental origins and an extension of Brian’s lifelong commitment to dignity, shared humanity, and the power of knowing our origins.
He continues to inspire audiences worldwide through his speaking, consulting, and his podcasts, A Conversation with Brian and I Can’t Believe I’m 60! From Hoops to Hip Replacement.
