JOANNE SMITH

Joanne's book - 'Memory Stones, Overcoming Trauma and Finding Joy' is an autobiography/healing/thought-provoking look at overcoming personal trauma. This book, available for purchase in November 2025, touches on topics like childhood abuse, sexual assault, spousal abuse, addictions and infidelity. The poems, which appear throughout this book represent Joanne's attempts to process her many traumatic occurrences, and are both heart-felt and inspiring. She has taken this journey of self-discovery, alongside attending psychotherapy sessions, to build new pathways to who she wants to be and to share opportunities for personal growth. Joanne hopes that by finding the courage to share her personal and traumatic experiences, she can ease someone else's path and allow them to transition from victim to thriving...not just surviving.

Joanne's stories, in 'Women Like Me, Whispers of Warriors', and 'Women Like Me, Embracing the Unseen - The Courage to Surrender' are both excerpts from her own book.

Joanne has a diploma as a Developmental Service Worker. However, due to a back injury has not worked in this field for many years. She has also taken courses at the University of Waterloo in Psychology, Behavioral Science and Kinesiology. Joanne obtained a degree in a Holistic Nutritional Course in 2024. With this endeavor she is now embarking on a mission to help herself and others improve their health.

Joanne has two grown children and lives in a small community in Ontario Canada. She also considers herself an entrepreneur, having started 3 business over the years. She enjoys hiking, cycling, sewing, puzzles, reading and writing.
