Kathy Ziola is a passionate advocate for authenticity, presence, and compassion. Since 2005, she has been dedicated to teaching Nonviolent Communication as a certified trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication and her own business Communication Works. She teaches and coaches in a wide variety of settings transforming lives and relationships with compassion and laser sharp insight.
Kathy’s thirty-five plus years as a psychotherapist, group facilitator, and healing arts professional have given her deep experience and understanding of our shared humanity and interpersonal relating. Her integration of NVC and cultivation of presence provide a bright clarity that supports readers and students in transforming unskilled habits of communication into powerful ways of perceiving, being, and expressing fully in life.
Kathy holds an MA in Agency Counseling with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, a BS degree in Human Development and Family Studies, and certifications in massage therapy, yoga, meditation, and as a Reiki master teacher. Kathy often shares her original poetry in her workshops to add inspiration and humor.
Based in Colorado, she raised two daughters, loving and sharing in the great outdoors. She enjoys performing improv, hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing. Spending time in nature helps her sustain balance and health with joy and fun.
