Michael Farthing worked as an academic physician in the UK and USA. He conducted research in several low income countries including India, Zambia, South Africa and Belize and has written many scientidic papers and medical books. Since leaving medicine he has published a critique of da Vinci's anatomical drawings, (Leonardo da Vinci: Under the Skin, 2019), a 'memoire plus', Finding India in 2019, which explores the emergence of modern, independent India tracked across the last 50 years through the eyes of a foreigner and now in 2023, the historical novel, Love in War.
He is an Honorary Prifessor at UCL, an Emeritus Professor at the University of Sussex and lives between London and Sussex. His wife is a radiologist and they have two sons - an artist and an actor.
