While the college search process is often cloaked in myth, mystery, and unpredictability, Dane believes the college journey does not need to be filled with stress. Instead, a successful college search process incorporates organization, education about colleges, and proactive management of the process that reflects and supports each student’s needs and goals.
Dane has leveraged her Psychology B.A. from the University of Michigan, her Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Writing, her College Counseling Certificate with Distinction from UCLA, and 17 years of working and volunteering in educational non-profits, to develop a college counseling program that educates, empowers, and supports students to achieve their individual college goals.
Helping to provide access to college through the college.u website, newsletters, outreach, and her private college counseling practice have been integral to Dane’s focus on supporting students. Working with students in her private practice and as a former high school College Advisor allows Dane to incorporate a breadth of resources that support and benefit students navigating their college search and application journey.
Dane is a published poet/writer, relentless reader, runner, and perpetual student. Originally from Michigan, she lives in the San Francisco/Bay Area with her husband and beloved “empty nest” border collie/retriever pup, and loves spending time with her children, friends, and family. She is a member of NACAC and WACAC.
