Les Pollock, FAICP, FLA, is a product of the Midwest. Chicago born and raised and educated at the University of Illinois (B. Architecture and Master of Urban and Regional Planning), he is an award-winning, internationally recognized urban planner and planning educator. As a founder of Camiros, Ltd, a national urban planning consultancy, he assisted communities across the country and internationally for over 50 years.
Les is a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners, and a Fellow of Lambda Alpha International Land Economics Honorary Society. He served on numerous public and professional boards and commissions related to urban planning. A past President of Lambda Alpha International, he currently serves on the Chicago Advisory Committee of the Salvation Army. Les has received a host of awards including recognition as an Urban Scholar in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA) at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and as a member of urban planning faculties at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and Urbana-Champaign, Illinois Institute of Technology, and Loyola University of Chicago.
An inveterate traveler, Les has visited 70 countries on six continents, including all states within the United States, most of the countries in Europe, southeast Asia, and the Americas. He has traveled up the Amazon River on a cargo boat through Brazil and Peru, across Russia via the Trans-Siberian Railway, through China by rail, up the coast of Alaska by ferry, and across the Andes by bus and boat.
