My career has been dedicated to improving child and adolescent wellbeing. I worked directly in education as an elementary counselor, high school social worker, and drug counselor as well as provided mental health counseling to teens. Since receiving my PhD from the University of Washington in 2005 I have focused on translating research across psychology, child development, and education into curricula to support healthy student development. I have also delivered a lot of training to educators on the various ingredients covered in The Recipe for Student Wellbeing.
