Michelle Sandlin

Michelle Sandlin is a bestselling author, award-winning writer, and poet whose love of writing began with a childhood fascination with pens, paper, and the endless possibilities of a blank page.

Her writing career spans journalism, memoir, poetry, and personal reflection. She wrote more than 500 articles during her seven-plus years as a weekly columnist for the Houston Chronicle, and her work has also appeared in the Houston Business Journal, Mobility Magazine, and numerous other publications.

In 2021, Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer despite leading a healthy, active lifestyle. That experience inspired her bestselling memoir, Cancer Don’t Care, published in 2024. With candor, humor, and vulnerability, she shares the realities of diagnosis, treatment, survival, and life on the other side. Today, she continues to use her story to raise breast cancer awareness and encourage women to know their bodies, pay attention to changes, and advocate for their health.

Her upcoming book, Words of Rhythm, is a collection of poetry and personal reflections exploring life, love, loss, resilience, and change.

Michelle is a Louisiana native who grew up in Shreveport. She earned her BA in Journalism from the University of Houston. She continues to find inspiration in the written word and the simple magic of putting pen to paper.
