Fabrizio Tassinari is an Italian political scientist. He is currently the founding Executive Director and Berggruen Fellow of the School of Transnational Governance at the European University Institute of Florence.
Previously, Tassinari worked as head of foreign policy studies at the Danish Institute for International Studies in Copenhagen. Recipient of the German government's Alexander von Humboldt award, he was also an adjunct professor in the Department of Social Sciences at the Humboldt University of Berlin.
Tassinari has a background in applied research and academic leadership on issues related to international security and comparative politics. He has published in various specialized journals and volumes and is the author of the book Why Europe Fears its Neighbors (Praeger) reprinted in an updated edition for the Turkish market (Inkilap). His book The Pursuit of Governance: Nordic Dispatches on a New Middle Way was published in 2022 by Agenda and in Italian by Rubbettino. His writings and opinions appear regularly in the main national and international media, such as the Economist, the Financial Times, the Washington Post, CNN, Le Monde, El Pais, Die Welt, la Repubblica and Corriere della Sera.
Tassinari holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Copenhagen and a master in Political Science from La Sapienza University of Rome.
Among his appointments, he has served as a Fellow at the Center for European Policy Studies in Brussels, Johns Hopkins' School of Advanced International Studies, and the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, as well as as a Senior Transatlantic Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United United.
He is a member of the Council of the European Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the steering committee of the Italian Institute for International Affairs and a member of the board of the European Media and Information Fund.
