Sándor M. Veres

Professor Veres is a mathematician turned control engineer. He has lectured and carried out research at three universities: Birmingham, Southampton and Sheffield. He held a chair in control systems at Southampton University from 2002 and was director of the Autonomous Systems Group at The University of Sheffield from 2013 until 2022. During his 42 years career he worked on modelling of uncertain dynamics, adaptive and learning control systems, vibration and sound control, satellite formation flying, autonomous underwater vehicles and aircraft, cooperative control of robots and verifiable autonomous systems in nuclear robotics. He served as chair of the Adaptive and Learning Systems Committee of the International Federation of Automatic Control, published five books and around 300 refereed papers.
