John Roche

John Roche has spent a lifetime tending the land and his community.

As someone that grew up through Ireland’s ‘economic war’ with England, he learned history the old-fashioned way - from the people that lived it. One of the great strengths of the Irish, is they know their history well.

Since ‘retiring’, he has spent his time developing the Castleisland District Heritage Society, to help capture the local lore and stories that won’t be collated by the academics that study history.

His writings speak to his passion about history, about Ireland, and about his community.
