Annette Anthony is a writer, global traveler, and cultural storyteller whose work explores
identity, belonging, and the ways food connects people across borders. A mother, daughter of
Philadelphia, American, British, and businessperson, her life has been shaped by movement
between countries, communities, and cuisines.
She began her professional career as counsel at the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee before
expanding into writing and creative work that reflects her international experiences. Her debut
book, Always Enough: A Global Food Memoir, is a storied cookbook and travel memoir inspired
by years of living, cooking, and eating across America, Europe, and Africa.
From Philadelphia to Paris, Morocco to the Ivory Coast, Bologna to Greece and London,
Annette’s writing captures the cultural insights gained through shopping in local markets,
learning from home cooks, and immersing herself in everyday food traditions. Her book features
160 recipes drawn from these kitchens, celebrating adaptability, sustainability, and a broad
spectrum of global flavours.
Through her storytelling, Annette highlights how food can shape identity, preserve memory, and
build bridges between cultures. Her recipes promote mindful, health-conscious eating for both
vegetarians and meat-eaters, while honoring a myriad of ingredients and techniques from around the world.
Annette is a fellow of the Voices of Our Nation Arts Foundation in the United States, a
Hedgebrook Master Class alum, and a graduate of Georgetown University and Columbia Law
School. She currently lives in Europe, where she continues to write, cook, host gatherings
around good food, and explore new places near and far.
