Mrs. Joyce Rice

I’m an Indigenous (Mi’kmaq) writer from St. Albans, Newfoundland, Canada. Growing up shy and often bullied, I learned early to value the quirks and differences that make each of us who we are.

Today, I write inclusive, hope-filled stories for young readers. My debut middle-grade novel, Bray and the Adventures of Zorkon (ages 9–12), celebrates diversity, kindness, and the courage to be yourself. My second book, The Rise of Little Bear, is now available, and a trilogy is in the works.

I believe stories can open hearts, build bridges, and remind us that with courage and determination, we can reach for our dreams.

Together, we radiate a brighter and more beautiful light than we ever could alone.
