Bruce Hayden

Author Bruce Hayden is a retired State Trooper who regularly indulges in regimented exercise program at home to stay in shape. He has received over 60 awards for powerlifting competitions that occurred up and down the Eastern Coast of the U.S.A. consisting of over a 25-year span.

Bruce is an avid gardener who likes spending time outside in the yard, whether it's grooming the lawn, planting vegetables or trimming the shrubs. He spends a lot of his time caring for his lovely wife, who is recovering from a stroke, but sometimes finds time for himself. He is grateful for still having a sound mind and body that enables him to accomplish most of the things in life.

Moreover, Mr. Hayden has written this book, "Birth of a State Trooper" to show in chronological order how a person continually uses backup plans to survive life's surprises. Furthermore, it depicts how anything and everything can happen, good or bad, during one's journey through life showing the need to be prepared for the unpredictable, whatever that may be encouraging he or she to persevere ahead with accomplishing their goal whatever that may be.

Furthermore, Bruce Hayden holds an A.A./B.A. degree in the areas of Criminal Justice and Criminology along with receiving approximately 12 graduate study credits in the same study area.

Over the course of 35 years, he has also received several certificates and awards for training before and after becoming a State Trooper. In addition, Bruce was certified and trained by University Professors in the area of Entomology and computer science, enabling him to work in area hospitals, the State Treasury Department, and other venues before embarking on the idea of becoming a lawman.

Additionally, Bruce has had the opportunity to acquire multiple certificates in Emergency Care, Accident Reconstruction, Intoximeter Training, First Line Supervision Schooling and Field Training during his 25 plus years as State Trooper.

As a field training Trooper, Bruce had the occasion to train over 20 Troopers newly assigned to a Barrack after graduating from the Academy. This additional training for the new Trooper entailed approximately eight more weeks of field training for the Boot Trooper prior to him/her going on patrol alone.

Bruce has been nominated several times for Trooper of the year and received certificates for criminal investigator and D.W.I. producer of the month many times over the course of his career. In addition, he was a member of many committees that pertained to Accident Reconstruction.

Author Bruce has always been an active person physically, exercising rigorously several times a week. He first started exercising with weighs at the age of 13 and has continued with this activity to this day. He has also had the opportunity to compete in powerlifting competitions all over the Eastern Seaboard of the U.S.A., receiving as many as 65 awards. These awards consisted of plaques, ribbons, medals and sculptured trophies. All of these competitions were sanctioned, requiring the lifter to adhere to strict rules and guidelines.

Finally, Bruce became interested in mixed martial arts training at the age of 16 and continued with the training and activity for over 30 years. This mixed martial arts training was instrumental in giving Bruce the confidence he needed to do the job of hands-on Law Enforcement effectively. It was also effective in maintaining a healthy mind and body, allowing him to manage the stress and pressures of life in general.
