John De Gree

After 13 years as a public school teacher, John De Gree searched for a history curriculum that teaches students through the Socratic Discussion. When he couldn’t find one, he decided to write it himself, and Classical Historian was born in 2011. Mr. De Gree has since published dozens of history and civics books, 10 games, and several DVD programs used in public, private, and home schools.

The son of two teachers, Mr. De Gree earned a B.A. in Government from the University of Redlands before moving to Central Europe, where he studied the German and Czech languages and married his wife, Zdenka. He completed an M.A. in the Humanities and started teaching upon his return to California. He and Zdenka have been blessed with seven children and several grandchildren.

Informed by three decades of teaching experience, Mr. De Gree develops curriculum that tells the story of liberty. He is committed to imparting the highest values of Western Civilization through his writing, speaking, and instruction.
