Robert J. Berrier Ph.D.

I was always political. Some people react to the world by writing music, others, poetry. Me, I see politics in almost everything. Now, this book is not about candidates or campaigns, but about our democratic institutions. Plus, there are my comments on some cultural things. Why read my book? Well, I somehow got into Stanford University and learned a lot, particularly since I got to study abroad. I then worked for Stanford at its Florence, Italy, campus as Assistant Director. I somehow got into MIT where I studied political science and economics. I taught at a university for three years and worked as a consultant to the Aspen Institute where I got to meet some of the most important CEO’s in world. One thing led to another, and I worked for decades as a consultant to major corporations and in a very important political research and consulting firm in Washington, D.C. where I was the Senior Vice President. I then started my own company which I ran for a quarter of a century. Yes, I made payroll for 25 years. During my work life, I got to travel extensively in this great country and meet thousands of people. I have also been privileged to travel frequently aboard. My views are just those of one citizen. I am no more important than you are, dear reader. My opinions might not be yours, but in healthy societies differences of opinion can be heard and respectfully debated through our democratic institutions. We need more of that.
