Cheryl Smith

Ms. Smith is currently working part-time as a licensed esthetician and makeup artist, and is a Christian death penalty abolitionist in her spare time. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2010 with an Associate of Science degree for medical assisting. Though she has written several short stories as a hobby, she is a first-time published author. Ms. Smith has written and published "God's Grace Upon Grace: A Case Against the Death Penalty" to spread awareness of the misgivings and myths surrounding the death penalty. As for her abolition work, she (along with other abolitionists) calls and writes to governors' offices in states that are having executions take place to try and sway them into granting a stay for the convicted. Cheryl also signs and shares petitions for those about to be executed in hopes of helping them receive a stay, as well as praying for- and asking for prayers for the incarcerated. Ms. Smith participates in protests in her own state when an execution is supposed to take place, and the governor has ignored all pleas. She also writes to and has become good friends with someone who is currently on death row, and vows to fight for him, as well! She has a heart for prison ministry -- more specifically for death row prison ministry, as she feels they are often overlooked and ignored, and treated as though they have no voice. Now, she has written a book so they can have a voice.
