Rebecca Weisman is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and the Director of the
Iyengar Yoga Center of Vermont. She has been a devoted student of Iyengar
Yoga for over twenty years with a passion for all eight limbs of the Yoga system
as well as a deep love of experiential anatomy and therapeutic yoga. She is
devoted to her main teacher, Patricia Walden, and has studied extensively with
other senior Iyengar teachers as well as directly with the Iyengar family in Pune,
India. Having discovered yoga at a young age, Rebecca initially was drawn to its
healing elements as she recovered from serious physical ailments, finding the
precision and depth of the Iyengar method to be uniquely beneficial. Rebecca
was also initially drawn to the philosophy of yoga and the mental effects of the
practice, and used yoga as a way out of mental and emotional turmoil.
She is guided in her teaching with the belief that the therapeutic benefits of
the āsana, prāṇāyāma, and philosophy of yoga can be felt even for a beginner
student, and her teaching is infused with a love of both the science and art
of yoga. She teaches prenatal and postpartum yoga as well as working with
individuals with diverse issues, including fatigue, depression, chronic illness,
chronic pain, lower back pain and sciatica, hip, knee, shoulder, and neck problems,
recovery from injury, anxiety, and blood pressure and immune system
disorders. She is also a mother of two young children and brings to her work
her experience of the physical aspects of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum
recovery as well as the humor, patience, and ease needed to parent. In addition
to practice and teaching, Rebecca has a background in art and maintains
a vibrant art practice, which includes some of the illustrations for Yoga for Pelvic Floor
and Postpartum Health.
