Jane M. Ferguson is a seriously quirky, detail-oriented anthropologist and historian of Southeast Asia, especially Myanmar (Burma) and Thailand (Siam). From two years' fieldwork in a Shan village at the Thai-Burma border, to Burma's glory days of cinema, to how cultural lives are changed because of airlines, Ferguson's work runs the gamut. She works at the Australian National University, teaching undergraduates and advising PhD students.
