Jen Thum

Jen Thum is Associate Director of Academic Engagement & Campus Partnerships and Research Curator at the Harvard Art Museums at Harvard University. She is a specialist in the art and archaeology of ancient Egypt and an expert in museum-based learning. Her work sits at the delicious intersection of Egyptology and museum pedagogy.

Jen earned her Ph.D. in Archaeology and the Ancient World from Brown University, M.Phil. in Egyptology from the University of Oxford, and B.A in Anthropology from Barnard College. She is the author of numerous publications on teaching and learning about the ancient world, including Teaching Ancient Egypt in Museums: Pedagogies in Practice, Be A Scribe!, and Coloring Ancient Egypt. Jen currently serves as Vice President for Outreach and Education for the Archaeological Institute of America.
