Mario Petillo

Mario Petillo was born in 1990. He studied screenwriting at the Holden School, graduated in communications at IULM and graduated in Musicology at the State University of Milan.

He wrote and directed the short film 'Le couples have kisses counted' (2015), screened at the Milan Film Festival, and was a finalist for the Solinas Award with the web series '02: 37' (2016).

The film rights to his debut novel, 'James Hook: The Pirate Who Sailed in the Sky' (Scatole Parlanti, 2019), have been sold for adaptation. He edited the essay 'Emozioni da Giocare' (Poliniani, 2021) and is the author of 'The Concert Feature – Disney's Fantasia' (Tora Edizioni 2023), his first graphic novel. His thesis is published as 'L' aria del Cristallo – The work of Nobuo Uematsu in Final Fantasy' (Ledizioni, 2023) and is the first essay on ludomusicology produced in Italy.

Active in the video game industry for over 15 years, he worked on All-Star Fruit Racing (3DClouds, 2018), Xenon Racer (3DClouds, 2019), and Batora: Lost Haven (Stormind Games, 2022), also contributing to the writing of Extra Coin (CINIC Games, TBD 2024). Since 2018, he has been a video game professor at the Catholic University of Milan.
