Peter Marshall

Born in North London in 1950, I worked as a teacher in Islington and Essex before becoming a freelance writer and researcher in 1995. I have travelled extensively in India and the Caucasus and trekked in Kashmir and Ladakh and also in the Karakorum Mountains.

In 2000 and 2001 I lived in Sarajevo where my wife Marion was working. It was there that I wrote 'The Children of Kali.'

On our return to the UK, we moved from Essex to Fife, where we now live. Marion and I regularly visit the Hebrides. The magic and history of the islands inspired me to write 'The Corn Marigold and other Hebridean Stories'.

In 1998 I worked on a collaboration between Channel 4 and The British Museum in making the Museum’s Roman artifacts available for students on a CD rom. My work on the project introduced me to the history of Late Antiquity, and I became enthralled with the history of the declining Roman Empire and the emergence of a feudal Christian Europe. I started writing about the period and over the last twenty five years I have kept returning to Late Antiquity and my epic trilogy, 'The Chronicles of Dark and Light' is the result.

Apart from travelling and writing I enjoy gardening, walking on the Fife Coast and running my local community cinema.
