Matthew is Research Fellow in Medieval History at Flinders University. His historical research focuses on England and Scandinavia in the tenth to thirteenth centuries. He has especial interest in history writing, biography, cultural memory, and the transmission of historical narratives across place and time. His book publications cover topics including English queenship in the tenth century, depictions of Viking Age England in the Sagas of Icelanders, and the legacies of England’s early medieval kings. Matthew is also widely published in academic journals and edited book collections.
