Gregory J. Madden, PhD, is a professor of psychology at Utah State University. He has taught behavior analysis for more than 30 years and it is still the part of the job he likes best. In recognition of his teaching skills, the American Psychological Association named him a G. Stanley Hall Lecturer.
Dr. Madden is co-editor-in-chief of the three-volume APA Handbook of Behavior Analysis (published in 2027), and co-author of An Introduction to Behavior Analysis, now in its second edition (published in 2026).
His NIH-funded research explores impulsive decision-making and innovative approaches to reducing this behavior pattern that negatively impacts human health and wellbeing. The American Psychological Association recognized his research accomplishments with its Distinguished Contributions to Basic Research Award. He is a Fellow of the Association for Behavior Analysis International and a past editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior.
