Beth Ann Hooper is an award-winning poet, writer and movie producer. Her debut novel The Roots That Clutch was named the 2024 Winner Book Cover Design and Distinguished Favorite World Literature by the Independent Press Award and the 2025 NYC Big Book Award. She is also the producer of the award-winning short film The Roots That Clutch which is based on the novel. A bilingual author, she is also the author of Lot, the Dutch version of The Roots That Clutch.
Her poetry and film collection, Haunting the Dead, was published in 2026. The poetry collection includes video interpretations of her poetry by her filmmakers in its section Poetry in Motion Picture, which will be on the book festival tour over the next few years.
Poetry in Motion Picture is also the title of the short arthouse film version that includes an original musical score for a complete cinematic experience of her poetry on the film festival circuit.
She is also the associate producer of the internationally-acclaimed Dutch documentary In the Interest of the Child and the upcoming Dutch documentary Airplane Child.
