Meet Tobby Smith, a seasoned traveler of both geographical and theological landscapes. Born into an Army family, Tobby has called California, Georgia, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Indiana (home base), and even Germany, home at various points in his life.
With a diverse educational background, Tobby is well-equipped to navigate the intricacies of theology and ministry. Tobby earned a B.A. in Biblical Theological Studies from Boyce College in 2008, followed by a Masters of Arts in Theology from Liberty University in 2010, and further pursued their academic journey with a Masters of Divinity from Liberty in 2013. In 2023, Tobby attained a Th.M. from Midwestern Baptist Theology in Applied Theology, and concurrently completed a Ph.D. in Theological Studies. Tobby's doctoral dissertation, titled "Theological Dissonance in the Early Spiritual Development of Joseph Smith, 1805-1830," offers a fascinating exploration into the formative years of a religious figure of historical significance.
Beyond academia, Tobby brings rich theological insights into pastoral ministry and writing. Tobby has served in pastoral roles for 17 years and is the author of two thought-provoking works published by Kress Publications in 2021: "Wolfology: A Look at Heresies, Old and New" and "The Rise of Woke Christianity." Tobby's writings challenge prevailing ideologies and offer fresh perspectives on theological discourse.
When not engaged in scholarly pursuits or shepherding his flock, Tobby finds solace in the simple joys of life. Married to his devoted wife Rachel for 27 years and blessed with a son named Piper, Tobby cherishes every moment spent with family and his church community. Additionally, Tobby serves as Lead Chaplain for one of Indiana's leading Hospice & Palliative Care Team, extending compassion and comfort to those in need.
In Tobby Smith, you'll discover a multifaceted individual—a pastor-theologian, a shepherd leader, and a compassionate caregiver—whose journey inspires and whose words resonate with wisdom, light, and truth.
