Kathleen Jeffrey is an award-winning children’s picture book author who writes stories that help kids navigate big feelings with honesty, empathy, and hope. She grew up in Rhode Island and earned a BA in Elementary Education and Psychology from Rhode Island College.
After a 28-year career in U.S. and international media sales, Kathleen followed a longtime dream of working with books more closely and spent twelve years at the Glastonbury Abbey Bookstore in Hingham, Massachusetts. There, she developed a deep appreciation for children’s literature and its power to support emotional growth.
Her debut picture book, Katie’s Really Bad Day: A Story About Test Anxiety, is inspired by her own experience with school and test anxiety and reflects her belief that children do best when they feel understood, supported, and safe to speak up. Kathleen now writes children’s books to bring love, light, spirit, truth, and joy to young readers’ hearts.
She lives in Massachusetts with her husband and their two Westie Terriers. When she’s not writing, attending librarian and teacher conferences or visiting schools, she enjoys traveling, hiking, exploring wildlife sanctuaries, and spending time outdoors.
