Mike Bernard

Mike Bernard is an accomplished screenwriter, playwright, and author. His diverse body of work includes eight novels, a stage musical, and four optioned screenplays. His work has been recognized internationally through placements in the prestigious competitions Academy Nicholl Fellowship, PAGE International Screenwriting Awards, ScreenCraft, Nantucket Film Festival, and various New York and Los Angeles screenplay competitions.

"I'm an independent author and screenwriter whose career began with a midlife crisis triggered by a quiet house and loud tuition bills. Once all my children (and all my money) moved into dorm rooms, I started writing. My work blends the grit of Dennis Lehane with the wit of Nick Hornby and the warmth of Fredrik Backman—essentially, I write about people who are just as beautifully messy as the rest of us. A graduate of Providence College and BC High, I live on Cape Cod with my wife, Michele. I spend my summers being systematically dismantled on the pickleball court by retirees who move significantly faster than I do. In the winters I can be found roaming the aisles of Home Depot, staring at power tools I don’t know how to use and wondering if we need more light bulbs."
