Misconceptions and Remedies

(April 2024)

Restoring the Pillars of Western Civilization, is a compendium of his three other books and philosophic writings, that delves into deep philosophical questions such as the nature of God and human consciousness; the meaning of life and its purpose, and the reality of human nature. Blum ties this into his concept observations of the nature of the human animal and contends that most religious and political “isms” are misleading in their premises, and avocations, representing exclusively biased vested interests of their advocates.

Blum believes that only pragmatic acceptance of human nature as both seen and proven by human actions in pragmatic terms, is the only valid way of determining the way humanity must govern ourselves. That most other perspectives are deeply flawed in their fundamental premises, in that they have no checks or balances against the abuse of power and authority, which he illustrates with various historical narratives of government tyranny and abuse of power.

Blum contends that most government and political ideologies embrace the concept of coercion as their primary means to acquire social compliance, and are thus based upon dictatorial use of force and coercion and fraud, rather than acquiescence.

Blum represents the libertarian foundations of his perspectives and his conclusions explain that perspective as it relates to human consciousness, and the need for social and political recognition of the necessity for acceptance of human diversity in our minds, which is the authentic basis of human nature. Blum makes the case that all current national governments are tyrants throughout human history to the present day, and can not be trusted to be fiduciaries of the people without being counterbalanced by a fully independent elected judicial council, which he refers to as a Senate, and sets parameters for this institutions establishment. He presents humanity as fundamentally self-centered and egotistical. Human governments must be independently regulated by societies' most senior citizens (like the native American perspective of "elders ruling”). Blum suggests that this can be achieved by a "self-checking system", that has an elected authoritative independent judicial Senate to oversee judicial enforcement of all laws equally and under the supremacy of constitutional law.

Blum makes the case that in both democratic and non-democratic nations, the legislature is out of control, abusive, and completely corrupted for both personal and political party gain, and thus these systems need to have a separate state apparatus of an elected and independent, Judicial Senate that has no authority to legislate, but rather focuses upon equal law enforcement and interpretation, as a primary and executive function, able to override the legislature to enforce constitutional human rights protections. Blum believes this “Senate” should have the authority to remove corrupt politicians and investigate governing corruption of any type. He foresees this Senate authoritatively enforcing laws upon all citizens equally regardless of status and protecting constitutional civil rights. By being an elected body composed exclusively of members who must exceed 60 years of age and be independent without party affiliations. This independent (Senate) Judicial Council would be limited by age, and only those native-born citizens, will be elected as independent regional representatives. They will as a governing body be responsible for prosecuting political corruption and conducting public investigations and trials regarding all suspected illegal corruption. In addition, the Senate would oversee the dispensation of justice in the courts, appoint judges, and shall also compose a court of inquiry, as a truly independent justice system. Ensuring that all government malfeasance or other corrupt practices are kept in check, particularly defending the integrity of the system, to eliminate and or minimize corruption that is all too common with governments that are out of control at this time, and not in reality acting accordance to the rule of law.

Blum contradicts German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer who said; "From the crooked wood of humanity, nothing straight can be built." Blum believes that from the crooked wood of humanity, checks, and balances, as he advocates, can control humanity's inherent corrupt nature as he describes it. He does this by walking the reader through a rendition of his personal experiences and historical reflections upon the failures of capitalism, communism, fascism, democratic nations, and judicial systems in nations that profess to be democratic. He has in effect created a new ideology for the 21st century that may in the future be a new ism.... perhaps Blum-ism.

Canada has now contributed another great modern revolutionary philosopher/thinker whose work is to be added to every serious book collection, along with Marshall McLuhan and others. Canada is coming of age, as with all other predominant Western nations in that its growing contribution to Western philosophy and thought is a clear sign of a deeper level of national maturity that is developing. Contradicting the works of Karl Marx, Fredric Engels, and even Adam Smith. Blum believes their economic models are false, in that they do not comply with authentic human nature, and thus become tyrannical to implement their ideologies because Blum believes they are fictional ideologies that do not conform with human nature as he describes utilizing Darwinian and native north American concepts of nature which humanity is a part of.
