Edward O'Brien

Born in country New South Wales, Australia, I found the 'bush' a thing of beauty and a safe place to wander and explore. Life was simple, milk from the cow, eggs and meat from the fowls. Droughts meant walking to the river with a piece of soap and an old towel for a bath. Bicycles, dogs and billycarts all played large roles in the lives of country kids, as did day to day encounters with assorted wildlife. Most of these were quite benign, but some could get the adrenaline pumping. Eastern brown snakes in particular.

I maintained a love of the bush and books, while my career in the human service arena kept life busy and full of varied experiences.

I have self-published three books, two of which are available on Amazon.

Amidst Sunflowers is a darkly humoured tale set primarily in the dining room of an aged care facility, while The Talisman Seekers is Book I of a proposed trilogy. The Talisman Seekers is a fantasy/adventure novel featuring a young female pig and a hound as the protagonists.

Life remains quite simple. A campfire, the call of an owl and a tin mug of rough red enrichen the spirit and creative flow.
