M. E. Johnson

As an Iraq War Veteran and retired Colonel of the United States Army, Author M.E. (Mark) Johnson understands our military. He is a recipient of the bronze star medal for his service in Baghdad from 2003-2004. Mark writes of the trauma suffered by our combat veterans.

Serving as a Superior Court Judge over a Veterans Treatment Court for 11 years put Mark on the front lines of the battle to heal our veterans of post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, depression and military sexual trauma. These veterans, men and women, served in combat in Vietnam, Grenada, Bosnia, Kosovo, Panama, Djibouti, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Now retired as a judge, Mark was awarded a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of California, “Scars and Strife” is his first novel. In his spare time, he enjoys helping veterans, serving on the boards of veteran charities, rescuing dogs and travel with his family.
