Dan Garrett is the 2010 winner of Best Mystery by the Writers’ League of Texas for his novel, “Daufuskie”, as well as the author of “Mexican Wind”.
He was born in Bismarck, North Dakota and raised in Texas. He attended The University of Texas-Arlington and holds a BBA in Management from Thomas A. Edison State College. Dan’s career took him across the country, living in Texas, North Carolina and Georgia. He spent thirty years in the beer industry holding senior management positions with both Stroh Brewery and Miller Brewing Company. Dan retired as Vice President of Operations for Diamond Crystal Brands, the food service division of Hormel Foods.
He has three grown children and lives with his wife, Phyllis on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina where he enjoys traveling, writing, weight lifting, and island life.
