Alexander Bigman

I am an art historian and critic based in New York City. I write about art in later twentieth-century North America and Britain. Much of my work has revolved around the concept of postmodernism that emerged in the early 1980s. I take a social and interdisciplinary approach to my analyses, situating works of art within larger networks of political thought, creative practice, and popular culture. I earned my PhD from the Institute of Fine Arts at NYU, and my BA from the University of California Berkeley.
