Joseph Bockus

Joseph Bockus is an educator, author, and advocate whose life journey demonstrates the power of resilience and perseverance. With nearly three decades of experience in education, he serves as an English Department Chair and college instructor, helping students develop the reading, writing, and critical thinking skills necessary for success.

His memoir, The Two-Dollar Bill: My Parents Let Me Out Alive, chronicles a childhood marked by abuse, neglect, and hardship, as well as the struggles with addiction and hopelessness that followed. Through honesty and reflection, the book explores how determination, education, and the support of others can help individuals overcome even the most difficult circumstances.

Drawing from both personal experience and professional insight, Joseph writes about resilience, literacy, education, recovery, and the importance of hope. His mission is to encourage readers to recognize their own potential and understand that their past does not determine their future.

When he is not teaching or writing, Joseph works with students and educators to promote academic success and lifelong learning.
