Dr. James B. Stewart is a Professor Emeritus at Penn State University and a Senior Fellow at the New School. In addition to Higher Flight he has produced eleven other monographs: Introduction to African American Studies; Black Families: Interdisciplinary Perspectives; The Housing Status of Black Americans; Blacks in Rural America; W.E.B. Du Bois on Race and Culture: Philosophy, Poetics and Poetics; African-Americans and Post-Industrial Labor Markets; Flight in Search of Vision; African Americans and the U.S. Economy; and Message in the Music: Hip Hop History and Pedagogy. Stewart is a previous editor of the Review of Black Political Economy, past President of the National Economic Association, past President of the National Council for Black Studies, and past President of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History.
